![]() My intuition is to sell extra copies now while prices are high. My guess is that Portal to Phyrexia ends up the latter - really good in some Commander decks but not a format staple - although it's dangerous to underrate colorless cards that can go in any deck, so we'll have to wait and see. On the other hand, if it's more of a fringe card in Commander that only shows up in a few archetypes (like artifact reanimator/artifact ramp decks) it seems unlikely that Portal to Phyrexia will climb much higher and will probably start to drop as the set is opened and more supply hits the market. The mythic artifacts is seeing play in Standard and players are brewing around it in Modern, but just how much Commander play will it see? If it develops into a staple it could be the next The Meathook Massacre or The Great Henge which ends up $50 or more even while in Standard. Whether this price sticks or even grows depends on one big thing: Commander. Speaking of The Brothers' War and artifacts, the biggest Standard winner this week was Portal to Phyrexia which more than doubled in price to $27. Expect to see more, similar increasing in coming weeks. Considering the artifact theme of The Brothers' War this makes sense as players try new Modern brews and build Commander decks around the set's themes. While Shape Anew was the biggest winner, artifact-synergy cards were up almost across the board this week with Mirrodin Besieged jumping 64% to $5, Arcum Dagsson climbing 18%, Goblin Engineer (retro) 24% and even Mycosynth Golem was up 5%. Whether a Shape Anew deck becomes real in Modern remains to be seen, although if it does, Shape Anew could continue to climb. After seeing Indomitable Creativity jump from near bulk mythic prices to over $20 for similar reasons, Shape Anew as an old, one-print rare seems like a good speculative bet, although at this point that's all it is - speculation. While we haven't seen the deck show up in tournament results yet, we've seen some brews looking to use Shape Anew to cheat Portal to Phyrexia into play as early as turn three. Thanks to some of the massive new artifacts from The Brothers' War, there is some hype for Shape Anew in Modern. ![]() () Singularity measures the grade of deviation from the standard average deck on that archetype.
